Question: What is the origin of the band's name?
Answer With the arrival of Ken Hensley in Spice in 1969, Gerry Bron thought it would be a good idea to change the name of the band. 1969 was the centenary of the author Charles Dickens' death and his works were being heavily pushed. It was Gerry Bron who suggested the name of the obsequious clerk Uriah Heep from Dickens' novel, "David Copperfield".
